Our approach in building the design concept for the Library Hotel centered on redefining what contemporary Thai design could be.
Ignoring the cliche, we took inspiration from a phrase often heard from travelers “I read that book on my trip,” as they finally have time for reading while on holiday.
The ‘reading man’ became the physical manifestation of our concept, with different iterations of the sculpture appearing by the pool, on the beach, and in various corners of the property. A massive library was built that would become one of the hotel’s defining design features. And throughout the common spaces and room interiors, we looked for ways to reinvent the region’s visual culture to help define a truly unexpected offering within the region.
